Elemental Woman

'Elemental Woman' is a sculpture that refers to the strength and grace of London, a city that is often seen as aggressively male, but there is an elegance in this wildly energetic 24-hour city that is essentially female. She is cast in aluminium which, although the most abundant of all the earth's elements, is perceived as a very modern material.

Elemental Woman is always travelling and partially free but lightly anchored to the earth and this is an allusion to the constant flow of people travelling to and from London and the deep, but usually unspoken commitment that Londoners have for their old yet extremely modern City. Signed RLM. Dated 2005. Limited Edition of 5 numbered 1/5.

The Eleanors

This series of Sculptures - 'The Eleanors' - is my depiction of the consequences to a woman of her sexual power and capacity for overwhelming love and joy. I feel that these should be allied to self respect, dignity, a degree of humility and self protection and have tried to convey these concepts through each sculpture’s demeanour and stance.
